Crown Graphic: Rangefinder either on the side (earlier version) or top (as shown above). By not having a focal plane shutter in the camera, it is lighter than “Speed” Graphics. Most popular user model is the Crown w/top rangefinder. Cameras have rise and fall movements in the front, a front tilt and drop bed and a modest lateral shift in the front. No rear movement. Ground glass work is easily facilitated. Bellows draw is 12 inch.
Cameras are offered w/”normal lens”, usually a 135mm f4.7 or a 127mm f4.7, and Graflock (Universal) 4x5 back.

Speed Graphic: Same configurations (side or top rangefinder & swings/tilts) as the Crown, but includes the addition of a focal plane shutter at the back of the camera. This shutter has a wide selection of accurate speeds in a generally higher range then between the lens shutters. It provides for the use of telephoto or other lenses which may not be mounted in shutters. This feature does add a few pounds to the weight of the camera. Prices average the same as the Crowns.

Super Speed Graphic: The last vintage Graphic, this camera does not have a focal plane shutter, but does have a revolving back. Camera also features an electronic body release.

Principles of the Graflex: All Models
1- A reflex viewing-focusing optical system that shows on a ground glass an exact, erect image of the scene to be photographed, without parallax and with the same depth of field as the image on the negative.
2-A multiple speed focal plane shutter giving a wide range of exposures up to 1/1000 with efficiency and reliability.
3-A revolving back for ease of framing and handling.

Super D Graflex:
Available in 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 (adapted by us to 120 roll film and pack film Polaroid) and 4x5.

This is the last version of the Graflex SLR, and features a normal lens (152mm f4.5 for the 3x4, and 190mm f5.6 for the 4x5) with an automatic diaphragm that allows for viewing at full brightness prior to stopped down exposure.
Originally, neither camera was compliant with modern holders and accessories. We have professionally adapted both cameras for usage with most current film holders. The 3x4 is small and allows the speed and selection of the myriad of medium format films as well as a large polaroid (3x4). The 4x5 has been converted to "Graflock" fittings which is considered a universal back. It will accept standard 4x5 film holders, most roll film holders, and 545 and 550 Polaroid backs.

Our cameras are offered with pride. We have an international reputation for providing tools that are wonderful to use. They are overhauled and reliable. You will be paying a premium for this, but it is worth it.

Variations:
We pride ourselves on offering not only quality Graflex's but wonderful variations as well. They include:

  • 4x5 Long Bellows Graflex: Perfect for portraits, this camera allows a slightly longer 240mm lens to be used instead of the normal 190mm. It is also a faster aperture for softness/depth of field control. Currently not in stock. Check back later.
  • 4x5 Fast lens Camera: starts w/4x5 RB Series D Graflex (same as the Super D, except no auto diaphragm), with the inclusion of a special classic lens. We offer hand picked optics in apertures f4.5, f3.5 and even f2.9. The faster the lens, the "funkier" the optical quality and the less depth of field. Current offerings available:
  • 4x5 RB Series D with 210mm f4.5 Zeiss Tessar (uncoated) $1000
  • 4x5 RB Series D with 190mm f3.5 Zeiss Tessar (uncoated) $1350
  • 4x5 RB Series D with 210mm f4 Meyer Plasmat, sunk mount (uncoated) $1575
  • 4x5 RB Series D with 210mm f2.9 Dallmeyer Pentac, modified to fit body (uncoated) $1750
  • All of the above lenses are mounted on lensboards

Upgrades:
From experience we recommend replacing the original viewing screens to the aftermarket Beattie Screen which makes a difference of 1.5 stops of viewing brightness. When done at camera purchase time, we can insert and recalibrate (it is needed) the viewing screen to coincide with the back ground glass.
